The 2009 Fall Meeting of the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) will take place Sept. 14-17 at the Raleigh Convention Center, Raleigh, NC.
The theme of the American Trucking Assn. (ATA) event will be “High Performance Maintenance Strategies.” Technical sessions on fuels, propulsion technologies and how to assess and reduce vehicle down time with failure analysis will be held, ATA said. Sessions on clean vehicle technologies, new California rules and how to access to OEM repair information will be included.
Study Group technical sessions will include electrical technician training skills; prevention tips for the tire and wheel issues; diesel exhaust fluid for 2010 engines; how to identify when parts will fail; wheel end maintenance and failure analysis strategies; CARB trailer compliance and beyond; developments in onboard diagnostics; and specialty vehicles and failure analysis/
The meeting will also provide an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other professionals. Jack Conlan, Daimler Trucks North America senior vp-customer support, will be the featured speaker at the Industry Luncheon on Tuesday and Bryan Lewis, the TMCSuperTech2007 and 2008 Grand Champion, will speak at the TMCSuperTech2009 awards luncheon.
The SuperTech competition is open to any technician employed in the industry. Registration is required as space is limited. Entry fee for TMC technician members is $100 and $200 for non-members.
In addition to the SuperTech competition, there will also be a technician training fair on Monday and Wednesday with hands-on sessions designed for technicians, shop supervisors and fleet managers.
The training qualifies for National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation continuing education credits.
