Mid-States Express, an Aurora- IL, based regional carrier, has closed its doors after 20 years in business. The company said it had provided LTL and TL services throughout 11 Midwestern states and was founded by the Hartmann family, which has been in the trucking business since 1948.
On its website, Mid-States said that it is "doing everything possible to insure the delivery of all shipments within our possession. We wish everyone the best."
According to the NewRichmondNews.com, Mid-States is currently in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, having filed for Chapter 11 protection. The news item noted that "Former employees of the company across the country lament they haven't been paid their earned wages."
It was stated on the Mid-States website that wage issues will not be heard in court until May 6 despite the carrier's ongoing efforts "to get all earned wages paid as quickly as is possible." The Mid-States statement noted that "Our Attorneys had made motions to the court to allow the wage issues to be addressed immediately. Amcore Bank opposed these motions."
