The Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) of American Trucking Assns. has named John Hawker, service engineer with Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC, a Recognized Associate of TMC. Hawker was one of three individuals to be given this title, which is awarded to those who have made outstanding contributions to the improvement of equipment, maintenance and maintenance management.
Hawker was recognized during the Industry Awards Luncheon at TMC’s Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition in Tampa, FL, last month. “I am humbled and honored to be given this award,” said Hawker, who has contributed to the development of numerous brake-related TMC recommended practices. “But I am just as proud of the recognition for Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake as I am for myself.”
Hawker, who resides in Holland, OH, joined Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake as a service engineer when the company was formed in July 2004. Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake is a wheel-end joint venture of Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC and Dana Corp. Prior to that Hawker spent 35 years with Dana in various engineering, marketing, sales and operations roles.
Hawker has been a member of TMC since 1992. Currently, he serves on the group’s Sergeant-at-Arms and Meeting Mechanics committees, and is active in TMC’s Professional Technician Development Committee, serving as a station chairman for TMC SuperTech competition in 2005 and 2006.
