National Tractor Trailer School (NTTS) of Liverpool, NY, is celebrating its 40th year of operation, noting that since it opened in May 1971, over 20,000 men and women have passed through its doors to become heavy truck and tractor-trailer drivers.

Originally founded in Newburgh, NY, by Harry Kowalchyk and William Mocarski with one “B” Model 1961 Mack tractor, NTTS relocated to its present location in 1998, with Kowalchyk still serving today as president.

The school received its initial accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (formerly the National Association of Trade and Technical Schools) in October 1984. The school later gained its Commercial Drivers Course certification in July 1998 from the Professional Truck Driver Institute.

The company also opened a second location in Buffalo, NY, in 1990,and signed a memorandum of understanding with nearby Fort Drum, NY, just last year to offer truck-driver training to active duty military personnel and other qualified individuals.
