Truckload Carriers Association and Fleet Owner have teamed up again to produce Distracted Driving: Risk with a capital “R,” a two-part, free Webcast series designed to help you improve fleet safety and manage risk, while still taking full advantage of all of the benefits in-cab communications deliver to your customers and bottom line.
Three subject matter experts will take the issue of distracted driving from the boardroom right to the road:
Michael Langford is a partner in the transportation law firm of Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary, PC. He focuses his practice on the area of trial court litigation on behalf of motor carriers and their insurers. Langford’s real-life examples of how driver logs can be used in the courtroom is information every fleet should know.
Speaker Larry Minor is the associate administrator for policy and program development for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. His office is responsible for strategic planning, program evaluation, and policy and program development activities concerning driver qualification, hours of service, truck and bus safety regulations and more. He will provide an insider’s look at distracted driving rulemaking and offer guidance for fleets trying to implement practical policies and procedures.
Scott McCahan, is the senior manager safety, recruiting and contractor relations for FedEx custom Critical, Inc. and is responsible for the recruitment, safety, job satisfaction and retention of more than 1,300 owner-operators. McCahan will share information about his company’s own policies and practices concerning distracted driving, including for the use of onboard communication technologies. His presentation will give attendees the opportunity to learn from one of the best in the business about what works and what doesn’t when it comes to dealing with distracted driving in the real world.
