LOUISVILLE. Shell Lubricants is adapting the “Million Miler” recognition program it developed for the Canadian heavy-truck market for the U.S., dubbing it here the “Million Mile Hall of Fame.”

Introduced here last week at the Mid America Trucking Show, the program will honor truck owners who reach the one-million milestone on their engines without having done a major overhaul and while using Shell-branded engine oil products, explained David Waterman, channel marketing manager-heavy duty for Shell Lubricants.

Shell tapped Jerry Kissinger, owner of Independent Operator Inc. of Cottage Grove, WI, as the first inductee into its new hall of fame program. Known for his charity work on behalf of for the Make-A-Wish foundation and the Special Olympics, Kissinger recently passed the one-million mile mark on the engine powering his 1991 Mack Superliner highway tractor.

Shell’s Waterman added that the company also plans to introduce a unique “warranty program” for its heavy-duty engine oil products later this year.
