Con-way Freight, the nation's leading regional less-than-truckload (LTL) freight carrier, announced today that it was named "Outstanding LTL Performer of the Year” by Ryder System, Inc.
The award was conferred collectively on Con-way's regional less-than-truckload components Con-Way Freight Central, Southern and Western for exemplary overall service provided on a national basis supporting Xerox Corporation's North American manufacturing and distribution operations. Ryder is Xerox's third party logistics provider and manages surface freight transportation resources for the manufacturer.
Con-way secured the top ranking out of 12 less-than-truckload companies which Ryder utilizes as primary carriers to support Xerox logistics operations in North America. The award recognized performance excellence in 2006 and was based on five primary ranking categories, which were: Overall Customer Service, On-time Performance, Operations, Claims and Damages.
"Receiving an award of this magnitude is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of Con-way Freight people across the U.S.,” said David. S. McClimon, president, Con-way Freight. "The ability of our organization to measure up to the exacting standards of customers like Ryder and Xerox is a validation of our industry-leading service, and the focus of our people on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. We're honored to receive such noteworthy recognition.”
Ryder operates a multi-carrier transportation network for Xerox that manages several thousand shipments daily, adhering to some of the most stringent quality and performance standards in the business, noted Jim Stamm, Ryder's group director of transportation and senior manager for the Xerox account. "Con-way Freight set the bar this year for performance. Their commitment to consistent, top-notch service was clearly demonstrated, and we are pleased to recognize their contributions to meeting our collective goals for quality and customer satisfaction.”
