Qualcomm shuffles executive ranks

Qualcomm Inc. has made three executive promotions, elevating Steve Altman to vice chairman, Steve Mollenkopf to president & COO, and Derek Aberle to executive vice president and group president

Qualcomm Inc. has made three executive promotions, elevating Steve Altman to vice chairman, Steve Mollenkopf to president & COO, and Derek Aberle to executive vice president and group president.

“I would like to congratulate all three gentlemen on their new positions and thank them for their many years of service to the company. Their leadership has been instrumental in Qualcomm’s success and I look forward to working with them in their expanded roles,” said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, chairman & CEO of Qualcomm.

Each will assume their new positions on Nov. 12, 2011.

Altman will continue as a member of Qualcomm’s executive committee. Mollenkopf will oversee Qualcomm’s divisions, business operations, and market expansion and development. He will continue as presideot of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies.

In addition to continuing to serve as president of the Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL) division, Aberle will oversee Qualcomm’s core services businesses, as well as the standards and global marketing activities. He will report directly to Mollenkopf.
