    American Trucking Assns. (ATA) has announced today that trailer manufacturer Wabash National Corp. (NYSE: WNC) has become its newest allied member. “Given today’s challenging operating environment and proposed regulatory changes, it is important that the industry is well represented by all segments,” said Dick Giromini, Wabash National president and CEO. “Through our membership in the ATA, we are better positioned to provide insight and expertise in support of legislation that benefits our customers and industry.”

    “At this time when our industry faces enormous challenges, including expanding government regulation and a sluggish economic recovery, we’re pleased to welcome Wabash National back into our federation,” ATA president and CEO Gov. Bill Graves said.

    “Just as our carrier members rely on their suppliers every day, we at ATA rely on our allied members to support this industry and we’re happy we’ll be able to rely on Wabash National going forward,” Graves added.

    Headquartered in Lafayette, IN, Wabash manufactures semi trailers in North America. Established in 1985, the company specializes in dry freight vans, refrigerated vans, flatbed trailers, drop deck trailers, dump trailers, dump bodies and intermodal equipment. The company operates two wholly owned subsidiaries: Transcraft Corp. a manufacturer of flatbed, drop deck and dump trailers as well as dump bodies; and Wabash National Trailer Centers, which offers trailer service centers and retail distributors of new and used trailers and aftermarket parts throughout the U.S.
