The report, produced by ATA’s Economics Department, profiles the dynamics shaping the trucking industry and includes information about the size of the industry, fleet demographics, retail sales, taxes, safety, international trade and more, including trucking and the environment.

According to the report, trucking hauled 68.8%, or 10.2 billion tons, of all freight transported in the U.S. in 2008 and was a $660-billion industry.
