Bosselman Travel Centers announced the company will sell seven truck stop locations in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and South Dakota to Pilot Flying J.

The sale includes travel centers at Wood River, Big Springs and Elm Creek; Des Moines, Iowa; Salina and Colby, Kan.; and Rapid City, S.D., according to a report in the Nebraska Independent. The transaction does not include the Bosselman Travel Center flagship location off Interstate 80 south of Grand Island, NB.

Pilot Flying J and Bosselman also reached an agreement to expand Bosselman's truck repair shops, Boss Truck Shops, to 20 additional Pilot Flying J travel centers across the nation. The acquisition is set to close on Jan. 5, 2012.

Chuck Bosselman, chairman of the board of Bosselman Travel Centers, said the sale to Pilot Flying J will allow Bosselman to further expand its truck repair network nationwide and will add additional variety to Pilot Flying J’s network of full-service restaurants through the addition of Grandma Max’s restaurants.

“Our hope is that the professional driver will continue to receive outstanding customer service through all facets at the travel center,” Bosselman said.

“Bosselman facilities are well run, have always had a strong focus on serving the professional driver as well as the traveling motorist and already offer many of the same amenities as Pilot Flying J,” said Jimmy Haslam, Pilot Flying J president & CEO. “Pilot Flying J has no doubt that these travel centers will transition smoothly into the Pilot Flying J network.”

Pilot Flying J officials said the company plans to add enhanced fast food service offerings, Pilot Flying J’s loyalty program and enhanced showers and remodeled rest rooms at many of the locations.
