Medium- and heavy-duty truck sales jumped 51.7% in September year-over-year, according to data compiled by WardsAuto.com. As good as sales were, it does represent a slight decline from August’s 54.2% increase.

Class 8 sales increased 69.5% and all brands saw double-digit increases with the exception of Mack. Western Star posted a 305.3% gain and Volvo 126.9%, WardsAuto.com reported.

Daimler sold 5,671 units in September to lead the way.

In medium duty, sales increased 32.3%, led by Daimler’s 271% increase and International’s 104.3% gain in Class 6 sales. Class 7 dropped 1.6% on an 86.3% decline at UD Trucks and 44.5% drop at Ford. Kenworth posted a 99.3% increase in Class 7.

Class 6 saw an 81.1% increase overall. Class 5 was also up, 39.3%, with Chrysler gaining 123.7%. In Class 4, Isuzu posted a 186.8% increase as sales overall climbed 10.3% in the class.
