VT Specialized Vehicles Corp. (VT SVC) has introduced the UltraTemp hybrid system for refrigerated distribution, which the company said combines the benefits of cold plate and mechanical refrigeration. According to VT, UltraTemp combines low operating cost, high reliability and long life expectations associated with cold plates, along with the unlimited route capability, automatic defrost and lower weight advantages of a mechanical system.
The UltraTemp uses Azure Dynamics Corp.'s Low Emission Electric Power (LEEP) hybrid system and can be added to any chassis with a PTO-ready powertrain, which is used rather than a separate diesel engine to generate clean power, the company said.
“VT SVC is very pleased to make UltraTemp available to the refrigerated distribution market,” said Mike Tucker, president of VT SVC. “A state-of-the-art environmentally friendly approach that harnesses the benefits of cold plate refrigeration and mechanical refrigeration, UltraTemp has set a new high for efficiency and return on investment, and a new low on fuel consumption and emission for a refrigerated distribution system.”
