Both Qualcomm Inc. and PeopleNet have signed on to help the nonprofit Trucker Buddy International through financial and technology-related donations.

Trucker Buddy International pairs truck drivers as pen pals with a classroom of school children in grades 2-8. The drivers share news about their jobs and travels and the students write letters back.

The help of both Qualcomm and PeopleNet “will help us further our mission and will make it possible for us to grow the number of teachers, drivers and more importantly students participating in the Trucker Buddy International program,” said Randy Schwartzenburg, Trucker Buddy International executive director.

The Trucker Buddy program is entirely funded through donations, and there is no cost to the participating classrooms to participate.
