Richard J. Kramer has officially taken the helm of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., as president & CEO. Kramer replaces Robert J. Keegan, who will remain with the company as executive chairman.

Kramer is the 19th president of the company since its founding in 1898.

“I am privileged to lead a team whose dedication to Goodyear and commitment to success is second to none,” Kramer said at Goodyear’s 2010 Shareholder Meeting. “I am proud to assume the role of CEO as Bob Keegan’s successor. … I now look forward with enthusiasm and optimism to the future prospects of Goodyear, building from the foundation established by my predecessor,” he added.

Kramer, 46, joined Goodyear in 2000 as vp of corporate finance. He was promoted to senior vp of strategy in 2003 before being named COO in June 2009.

Prior to joining Goodyear, Kramer spent 13 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he served in a variety of roles in the U.S. and Europe, ultimately as a partner.
