A integrated solution designed to provide a single hardware platform, a single data plan, and still deliver driving behavior improvement best practices to service fleet operations has been developed under a new partnership agreement.
The combined offering from Qualcomm and GreenRoad, a provider of driver safety and efficiency solutions, addresses mobile resource management (MRM), safety and driver behavior. Intended for local service fleets, it brings together Qualcomm’s Service Fleet Manager and GreenRoad’s 360 service to improve management of assets and safety while providing an opportunity to gain greater fuel efficiency.
“Qualcomm and GreenRoad are recognized leaders in their respective fields,” says Clem Driscoll of C.J. Driscoll and Associates, a leading analyst in mobile resource management for fleets. “Their partnership will, for the first time, enable fleet operators to obtain a combined MRM and driving behavior management solution from a single source. There is clear synergy in the integration of these solutions, which should result in significant improvements in fleet productivity as well as reductions in operating costs and losses due to accidents.”
By combining a mobile resource management and technology-based driving behavior service, fleets could reduce administration and cost by as much as 20%, the companies said.
“Mobile resource management and driver safety are vital issues to every local service fleet,” said Norman Ellis, vp-sales, services and marketing at Qualcomm Enterprise Services. “GreenRoad’s unique driving behavior service offers a different dimension to our mobile resource management offering, enabling our customers to obtain more value from each of the two services.”
Qualcomm’s Service Fleet Manager MRM system uses GPS technology to give fleets visibility into their assets and provide an immediate snapshot of critical vehicle information through a web-based interface.
GreenRoad 360 is a driving behavior improvement service with real-time, in-vehicle feedback and visibility into those maneuvers that most affect safe driving, fuel efficiency and emissions. It combines live, individually tailored driver coaching with web-based applications that continuously rate driving skills.
Feedback is delivered through an LED display that enables drivers to identify and self-correct risky and inefficient driving maneuvers in the moment.
