Truckload carrier Prime Inc. said it has begun the “broad deployment” of StarTrak Information Technologies’ two-way communication reefer management system, dubbed “Sentry,” throughout its refrigerated trailer fleet. “Two-way communication capabilities help us manage our fuel costs, better control our assets in the field and enables the ‘geo fence’ application,” said Rodney Rader, Prime’s director of technology

Rader noted that the carrier plans to make an “initial deployment” of 1,500 Sentry units within its reefer trailer fleet by year’s end.

StarTrak itself has reported it recently changed hands, with Orbcomm Inc. purchasing StarTrak from previous owner Alanco Technologies on May 17.
