A new web site has launched with the latest information on the new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP).

The site, built by NIC Technologies in cooperation with FMCSA and the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, is available at www.psp.fmsca.dot.gov. It offers details and updates on PSP as well as the opportunity for carriers to enroll in the program in advance of the official launch. There is also a frequently asked questions section.

The Pre-Employment Screening Program is the result of federal legislation requiring FMCSA to provide employers of commercial drivers with electronic access to crash and inspection data in FMCSA’s Motor Carrier Management Information System. The information will assist employers when assessing a driver’s safety history as part of the pre-employment screening process.

There is no fee for the required initial enrollment. Once the PSP system is launched, motor carriers will pay an annual subscription fee and $10 per PSP record purchased. Motor carriers will be required to obtain a driver’s written consent prior to accessing a driver’s record.

Individual drivers will be able to access their personal PSP record at any time through the PSP system for $10.
