Effective today, Knoxville-based Pilot Travel Centers LLC has purchased the former Giant travel center in Castaic, CA, 30 miles north of Los Angeles.

“This is our tenth location in California, and our fifth within 100 miles of Los Angeles,” said Pilot CEO Jimmy Haslam. “All of our customers – professional drivers and automobile travelers alike – will benefit from the added convenience of having Pilot on the high-traffic I-5 corridor.”

Located at the I-5 Lake Hughes exit, the travel center features 125 parking spaces, eight fuel lanes each for diesel fuel and gasoline, pay-at-the-pump/Smart Fuel, Transflo Express documentation for professional drivers and seven showers. The center also includes a Popeye’s Chicken restaurant and will offer CAT scales by January 2005.
