Al Cohn, director of New Market Development & Engineering Support for Pressure Systems International (PSI) will make the opening presentation at the 28th Annual Clemson University Tire Industry Conference, which will be held at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa April 18-20.  He will follow the keynote address being given this year by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R).

Conference Session 1 on April 18, “Our Industry and its Oversight,” will be kicked off with Cohn discussing the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s new Compliance, Safety & Accountability (CSA) program and its effect on tires.

According to Cohn, fleet safety scores under the CSA program can be adversely affected by many potential tire violations as spelled out in the program’s Safety Measurement System (SMS).

Cohn’s presentation will coves how each violation is measured and scored and point out some potential problems with inspection determinations.

Cohn, a frequent industry speaker, is an active member of SAE, TTMA (Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association, IANA (Intermodal Association of North America), ATA (American Trucking Assns.), and TMC (Technology Maintenance Council).

He joined PSI in 2005 and authors their monthly Commercial Fleet Tire Digest, a guide to reducing commercial tire expenditures.

Pressure Systems International is global supplier of automatic tire-inflation systems and markets and sells its system in North America through Meritor as the Meritor Tire Inflation System by PSI.

PSI has also opened markets in 39 countries and is currently exporting to China, Europe, South America, Africa and Australia.
