Crete Carrier given business award

Crete Carrier Corp. recently was named the recipient of the 20th annual “Salute to Business” award for the fleet’s outstanding vision, dedication, and commitment to the city and citizens of Lincoln, NE. Crete was handpicked for the award by the combined rotary clubs of Lincoln.

Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman was on hand at a luncheon to honor Crete and officially declared March 27 Duane Acklie Day in honor of the founder of Crete and his contributions to the state.

Acklie started the company as a small business in 1966 with 50 trucks and Crete has been a local fixture ever since. Nearly 50 years later, the company has grown to serve 48 states and employ more than 6,000 people.

Tonn Ostergard, Crete president & CEO, said,

“Starting in Crete, NE, with 50 trucks to today we have over 5,000 trucks. So

We’ve had a nice steady growth over the years and we’re fortunate enough to have great people in our organization,” said Tonn Ostergard, president & CEO.

“Lincoln and Nebraska are tremendous contributors to our success,” he added. “The people and the communities we’re so fortunate to be a part of.”
