Epes boosts inbound pay for Northeast loads

"Northeast premium pay enhancement" will allow drivers to earn an additional 7 cents per loaded mile

Greensboro, NC-based truckload carrier Epes Transport System has added a new enhancement to its existing pay package, which the carrier said reinforces its commitment to maintaining a competitive compensation package for its drivers. Effective April 1st, the new Northeast premium pay enhancement will allow drivers to earn an additional 7 cents per loaded mile for every load delivering to Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

“We understand the added pressure of driving in some of the challenging and high-stress environments that often present themselves in the Northeast,” said Britt Colley, president of Epes Transport System. “This pay increase serves to augment current compensation and reflects our company’s commitment to remaining one of the industry’s top fleets to drive for.”

The new Northeast premium pay will be applicable only on loaded dispatch miles to inbound destinations in the states listed above. Drivers will receive a separate line on their payroll settlements detailing the addition of the Northeast premium pay on qualifying trips taken during that pay period.

“Everyone here at Epes Transport appreciates the job our drivers do each and every day,” said Colley. “We thank them for their dedication, hard work and commitment to safety.”

Epes Transport is the largest privately owned trucking company in North Carolina. It runs over 800 power units and, with authority in the 48 contiguous states, is most active in the eastern two-thirds of the U.S. The carrier noted it was among the top nominees for the Truckload Carriers Assn.’s 2011 “Best Fleets to Drive For” recognition.
