While there have been some promising signs of recovery during the past year, increasing fuel prices, sluggish growth in certain fleet sectors and a shortage of commercial truck drivers have combined to put increasing pressure on the trucking industry.
To help the trucking industry understand these and other critical trends that are shaping the industry, the Trucking Industry Mobility and Technology Coalition (TIMTC) — in conjunction with the Dept. of Transportation — is sponsoring a free webinar where senior economic experts will share information and insights.
In the “State of the Economy and Trucking Industry Issues” webinar, Steve Tam, vice president, commercial vehicle sector, ACT Research and Tavio Headley, associate, equity research, Jefferies & Co., will cover current economic indicators such as truck freight volumes, supply and capacity issues, fuel prices, truck and trailer sales, driver employment figures and wages, as well as provide an outlook on the national economy. The webinar will also include a discussion on the future opportunities and challenges facing the trucking industry.
The webinar is scheduled for Thursday, May 10, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. EDT. Participants will need access to the internet and a telephone. For a free registration, visit the TIMTC website at www.freightmobility.com. An email with instructions for joining the webinar will be sent to all registrants.
The mission of TIMTC is to improve the knowledge base of both public and private sector stakeholders on freight transportation issues and potential technology solutions through ongoing information and resource exchange facilitated by a variety of programs, tools and activities.
Participation in TIMTC is free and provides the latest information and updates on trucking industry initiatives that improve the industry’s safety and mobility. Send your contact information to [email protected] to join.
