ACT: Used Class 8 pricing dips again in March

However, the research firm added, prices are not likely to keep falling.

According to the latest State of the Industry: U.S. Classes 3-8 Used Trucks report published by ACT Research, used Class 8 truck pricing slipped for the second consecutive month in March. However, Steve Tam, ACT’s vice president-- commercial vehicle sector, said that “prices are not likely to keep falling, but rather, will grow at a slower rate.

“We are basing this projection on the assumption that as more new trucks are purchased, more trade-ins ultimately become available,” he pointed out, adding that “growing inventories of used trucks should take some of the upwards pressure off pricing.”

The report provides data on the average used price for the top-selling Class 8 model for each of the major truck OEMs: Freightliner (Daimler); Kenworth and Peterbilt (Paccar); International (Navistar); and Volvo and Mack (Volvo).
