Celadon Trucking to acquire selected equipment assets from Robinson Transport

Oct. 3, 2012

Celadon Trucking Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Celadon Group, Inc., announced that it has agreed to purchase a portion of the operating equipment of Robinson Transport, Inc., based in Columbus, OH, to increase density in Celadon’s traffic lanes in and out of the Midwest and reinforce its driver pool, a company announcement said.

Robinson is a provider of truckload shipments in and out of the Midwest, which enables Celadon to fulfill one of its primary goals of increasing its freight volumes and lane density in one of its primary freight lanes, the company said.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to join such a financially strong and highly recognized carrier,” said Rick Robinson, president, Robinson Transport, who will join Celadon as vice president of Midwest operations. “This opportunity allows me to remain intimately involved with our loyal customer partners, as we transition the business I have developed and cultivated over the past 22 years. At the same time, Celadon’s expanded service offering and larger fleet will allow us to better service these customers and create additional opportunities for growth.”

The terms and conditions of the transaction were not disclosed.
