Initiative for hiring vets launched

Dec. 3, 2012

Amerit Fleet Serviceshas rolled out a new hiring initiative entitled “Veterans First” that promises to fill open job positions with military veterans recruited at both hiring events and via online job boards.

With over 400 locations nationwide, Amerit said it can offer opportunities for candidates seeking careers in fleet vehicle maintenance and management. The firm stated it believes military veterans with their leadership skills, work ethic and technical training developed during their time in service can be a good fit with the transportation industry.

“We believe veterans are the best candidate to hire,” said Gary Herbold, Amerit’s CEO, who happens to be a disabled veteran. “Their world-class technical training and education make them an asset to all companies seeking to strengthen their future.

“‘Veterans First’ is our effort to support those who have sacrificed so much for our country by hiring them for careers where their unique skills and character are needed and will be valued,” he added.
