• Truck fleet robbed by computer hackers

    Dec. 7, 2012

Pennsylvania state police are investigating the theft of more than $8,000 from Pleasant Trucking, a trucking company based in Bullskin Township, PA. The money was stolen through a virus contained in an email, according to a report in The Herald Standard.

A hacker placed a Trojan virus through spam email onto a computer at the trucking company, according to Trooper Stefani Plume, state police public information officer. Plume said the thief used the virus to acquire passwords to an account the company uses to issue checks.

The thief used the information to cash five checks totaling more than $8,000 in different states, Plume said.
