The owner of BN&M Trucking, Benjamin Marshall, has agreed to pay a civil settlement of $12,000 for certifying he performed work on an airport project when, in fact, he did not perform the work, according to the Office of the Inspector General of the Dept. of Transportation.
A press release said that between January 2005 and December 2010, false claims on a project for the Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport funded by the Federal Aviation Administration were submitted “indicating that runway services were provided by BN&M, when, in fact, they were provided by a non-DBE subcontractor and/or the prime contractor in violation of the DBE regulations and the False Claims Act.”
The investigation was handled jointly by the Office of the Inspector General of the Dept. of Transportation and the U.S. Attorney’s Office Civil Division.
