RoadOne acquires intermodal and drayage business

Sept. 18, 2013

RoadOne IntermodaLogistics has acquired US Intermodal through its QLS Logistic Services affiliate. The new agent-based company will operate as US IntermodaLogistics and include coast-to-coast drayage and brokerage functions.

Mark Pontarelli will serve as vice president of agent partner solutions. He will be responsible for establishing and building a new agent network throughout the U.S., the company said. Most recently, he was owner of US Intermodal, Inc. where he established agent-based intermodal drayage services in key market hubs.

“We’re committed to providing our agent partners with high quality support and resources to ensure their success,” said David McLaughlin, COO of RoadOne IntermodaLogistics.

McLaughlin added that US IntermodaLogistics will purchase shared services from RoadOne including sales and marketing support, financial assistance, insurance, equipment purchasing programs, and back office support.

RoadOne IntermodaLogistics, based in Boston, was launched January 2013 by industry veterans Ken Kellaway and McLaughlin.
