Frito-Lay’s Beth Mars earns CTP Top Graduate Award

Cincinnati. Frito-Lay, Inc. employee, Beth Mars, manager of transportation optimization and technology for the company, earned the National Private Truck Council’s (NPTC) Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) Top Graduate award for 2014. The award was presented today by long-time CTP Top Graduate award sponsor, Fleet Owner, during the opening general session of NPTC’s Annual Management Conference and Exhibition being held here this week.

To make the award even sweeter, Mars graduated at the top of the largest TCP class ever. Eighty-three people successfully passed the certification examination.

Mars and her team are responsible for the transportation planning, network efficiency and technology solutions for 31 Traffic Centers in the U.S. and Canada. She holds a B.S. in logistics and supply chain management from the University of North Texas.

“Talking with Beth Mars, it does not take very long to appreciate that she has a place among the top CTP graduates,” noted Fleet Owner. “Beth has been with Frito-Lay for eight years in a variety of mission-critical roles. Right now, she is managing routing for the company’s private fleet and for its outsourced freight transportation, as well. Beth says she also enjoys lending a hand with employee training on, what else, best practices. So it is an honor to present her with this award.”

Wendy Leavitt joined Fleet Owner in 1998 after serving as editor-in-chief of Trucking Technology magazine for four years.

She began her career in the trucking industry at Kenworth Truck Company in Kirkland, WA where she spent 16 years—the first five years as safety and compliance manager in the engineering department and more than a decade as the company’s manager of advertising and public relations. She has also worked as a book editor, guided authors through the self-publishing process and operated her own marketing and public relations business.

Wendy has a Masters Degree in English and Art History from Western Washington University, where, as a graduate student, she also taught writing.
