TIMTC, U.S. DOT to sponsor webinar on freight technology assessment tools

Aug. 1, 2014

TIMTC and the U.S. Dept. of Transportation will sponsor a webinar on Aug. 7 on how technology assessment tools can help carriers identify investment opportunities and improve operations.

XRS Corp. will provide an overview of how carriers currently assess technology investments.  Representatives from Productivity Apex, Inc. and URS Corporation will then discuss two new assessment tools developed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

The web-based “Freight Technology Assessment Tool” (FTAT), available to both the private and public sectors, allows users to evaluate potential technologies and their effect on business performance across a wide range of metrics.  The “Benefit-Cost Analysis Tool” is designed for state DOTs to estimate the cost effectiveness of implementing fright-related transportation technologies.

Speakers on the webinar include:

  • Tom Cuthbertson, vice president, regulatory compliance, XRS Corporation
  • Jason Weiss, principal economist, URS Corporation
  • Fabio Zavagnini, operations research and business analyst, Productivity Apex, Inc.

The webinar will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 2-3:30 p.m. ET. Participants will need access to the internet and a telephone.

To register for free, visit the TIMTC website at www.freightmobility.com or click here.  An email with instructions for joining the webinar will be sent to all registrants.
