Con-way Freight said today it will implement a general rate increase applicable to non-contractual business averaging 4.7%, effective October 27.
The nationwide less-than—truckload (LTL) carrier said the hike will apply to customers on its CNWY 599 tariff.
The move will affect general LTL rates, minimum charges, accessorial and other supplemental fees involved in the provision of service for LTL shipments moving within the U.S. and Canada, cross-border shipments moving between the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada, and the domestic U.S. portion of shipments into Mexico.
Con-way Freight said the rate increase aims “to help offset rising costs of doing business, including enhanced compensation programs to attract and retain quality drivers, increased regulatory compliance, fleet operations and revenue equipment costs and technology upgrades which enable the company’s premium service product.”
Customers may view the new rates after October 27 via the MyCon-way.com page on the Con-way website.
Con-way Freight provides time-definite regional and national LTL service a fleet of 8,900 tractors and 25,000 trailers through a network of over 425 service locations in the U.S. and Canada. The carrier also provides service to and from Mexico in partnership with sister company Con-way Truckload.
Based in Ann Arbor, MI, Con-way Freight is a subsidiary of Con-way Inc., a $5.5-billion diversified freight transportation and logistics services provider.
