    Nov. 3, 2014

Transportation management services company Transplace has named Sonney Jones sales director of the company’s Mexico division. Jones will focus on providing cross-border and intra-Mexico logistics services.

Jones joins Transplace with expertise in transportation operations and sales with an industrial engineering background. Most recently, Jones served as transportation director for Daltile, a division of Mohawk Industries, where he provided strategic oversight of varied transportation services.

In conjunction with Transplace, Jones led the development and implementation of co-loading program, TransMATCH, for Daltile with Whirlpool Corporation, Convermex and Werner Co. in order to optimize capacity utilization and reduce transportation costs.

“Sonney is a game-changer as demonstrated by his passion and thought leadership in the co-loading program based in Mexico,” said George Abernathy, president & chief commercial officer. “He brings a breadth of supply chain and Mexico experience along with innovative thinking, which will help Transplace further develop new relationships and strengthen current ones.”
