    Here is a look at what is happening in the world of transportation today:

    • Lawmakers in Michigan are set to vote on a proposal to cut the maximum truck weight allowed on state roads from 164,000 lbs. to 80,000 lbs., according to the Associated Press.
    • BikePortland.org comments on new reports from the FHA on why cities and towns should consider designing new roads for 23-ft. trucks instead of longer vehicles.
    • The founder of Zipcar believes every car in the world should be its own WiFi hotspot, reports Business Insider.
    • The Environmental Defense Fund comments on truck sales and how they fleets are increasingly turning to newer vehicles and technologies to reduce fuel consumption.
    • The New Jersey Senate passed a bill that would prevent truck owners from installing smokestacks on vehicles to improve power while also increasing emissions, says NJ Spotlight.
    • Three separate proposals are on the table in Michigan as a way to fund road improvements, including eliminating a gasoline tax and implementing a wholesale tax, says WILX TV.
    • According to a new report on corruption, construction and transportation rank in the top three global, says the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development KCOY TV reports.
