Here is a look at what is happening in transportation today:

  • A mother is claiming her two teenage daughters died because a design flaw in underride guards on trailers. She says it would only $100 to make the change, which has yet to implemented, according to  Bloomberg Businessweek.
  • Chrysler is no more. The company, which includes iconic brands such as Dodge, Jeep and Ram Trucks, is now officially called Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, or FCA US. The Toledo Free Press explains.
  • Residents in Los Angeles are upset that GPS apps like Waze are directing traffic to their local streets and have taken their complaints to the city council and the company itself, according to Slate.
  • UPS is deploying 18 all-electric delivery trucks to the Houston area, says Green Energy News.
  • Bill Gates is among the backers of a new startup that hopes to provide wireless Internet signals anywhere in the world, including moving cars, trucks and boats. GeekWire has the story.
  • FedEx, UPS and the Postal Service are facing the holiday shipping crunch. The Los Angeles Times explains how they are handling the rush to deliver packages.
  • A monster truck sponsored by the Ram Truck brand has broken a speed record, according to Guinness World Records. The Auto Channel has the details.
