Here is a look at what is happening in the transportation world today:

  • According to Bidness, Ford may be looking at using scrap aluminum used in the making of the F-150 to make additional vehicles.
  • A judge in West Virginia has ruled a local city ordinance banning trucks from downtown is illegal, says the State Journal.
  • A husband-and-wife team of grandparents make some of the most critical truck runs in the country, delivering hazmat chemicals. But now they need help making Christmas happen for their two grandchildren, whom they care for, and the Corpus Christi Caller-Times is appealing for help through the United Way.
  • Andra Rush, the founder of The Rush Group, which among the largest Native American-owned businesses in the U.S., spoke to graduates about at the University of Michigan-Dearborn last week, encouraging them to improve the quality of life in their communities, says the Press & Guide.
  • Two crashes in two days has FedEx scrambling as packages have been dumped on roadways, reports Tampa Bay’s 10 News.
  • In Michigan, a group of truck drivers who haul overweight loads protested outside the capitol as some legislators say too many people are blaming truckers for deteriorating roadways.  Michigan Radio has the story.
  • A railroad trestle in Maine that has claimed many a trailer, earning the nickname “The Can Opener,” found another victim on Monday night, trapping a tractor-trailer, according to CentralMaine.com.
