Maverick ups driver mileage pay, adds pay for experience

Jan. 13, 2015

Little Rock, AR-based Maverick Transportation has announced several changes to its driver pay scale for 2015, including pay for experience and “significant increases to mileage pay in all divisions.” The pay hikes apply to all current and incoming drivers and became effective on January 4.

The company said that its new pay-for-experience program will slot drivers with at least one year of over-the-road driving experience into higher starting pay ranges-- and those rates will increase for each year of verifiable driving experience.

According to Maverick, the pay-for-experience increases will result in W2 pay averages of between $60,800 and $66,500, depending on how many years of experience and what division a driver operates in.

Drivers without experience that come in as part of Maverick’s student program are also receiving mileage increases.

The company said that such students who come to Maverick with a new Class A CDL or less than 6 months of driving experience can now expect to average over $53,000 their first year. Those that come to Maverick with 6-12 months of experience will average closer to $57,500.

In addition, Maverick reported that many of its dedicated accounts have also received pay increases.

“This is a significant pay increase across the board for all Maverick drivers,” remarked director of recruiting Brad Vaughn.

“We are looking for the most professional and safest drivers on the road,” he added. “Maverick’s pay package, extra incentives for experienced drivers, training, equipment and overall recruiting package is truly second to none.”

Founded in 1980, Maverick operates over 1,400 units to provide over—the-road and dedicated service to the flatbed, glass, and temperature controlled transportation markets throughout North America.

Maverick was named the 2014 "For-Hire Fleet of the Year" by FleetOwner.
