Boyd Bros. Transportation has literally seen that when it comes to finding and keeping drivers, the sky’s the limit. The Clayton, AL-based flatbed hauler’s test drive of EpicVue’s trucker-specific satellite TV package in 150 cabs showed that retention “more than doubled” for drivers of those trucks vs. those in non-equipped vehicles, according to James Watkins, the fleet’s manager of mobile communications.

“Our goal is not just to attract drivers but also to keep them,” says Watkins. “EpicVue is the first company we found that provides a home-away-from-home feeling for drivers. They also met our needs by bundling their satellite TV service and providing it without any upfront [hardware] costs.

“We try to get our drivers home on the weekends,” he adds. “That’s not always possible. What we can promise is that we’ll do everything we can to get drivers home for Saturday. And now, with EpicVue, we can also promise they’ll be more connected to home when we call to inform them of a shipper delay.”

Per EpicVue, its subscription-based fleet package includes over 100 channels of DirecTV programming, a 24-in. flat screen TV, a DVR, and both a ruggedized satellite truck antenna and an “off-air” antenna to pick up local channels.
