Menlo Logistics has announced the promotion of Brian Murphy to senior director of business development-emerging markets.

Menlo is the global logistics and supply chain management subsidiary of Con-way Inc.

Murphy will be responsible for leading the profitable growth of two existing emerging market verticals, currently defined as health care and upstream oil and gas, the company said. Additionally, through collaboration with emerging markets operations leadership and vertical industry vice presidents and executive leadership, Murphy will set Menlo’s strategic direction for expansion in these sectors.

“Brian is uniquely qualified to take on this important new position for Menlo,” said Carl Fowler, vice president of North America field sales and solutions at Menlo Logistics. “He has a proven track record of improving clients’ global supply chain operations and in this new role, he’ll be able to provide even greater strategic insight and innovation for Menlo.”

Murphy joined the company in 2011 as director of business development for the consumer and industrial vertical.

He is based at Menlo’s National Transportation Management Center in Aurora, Illinois.
