Transport Corporation of America announced today that Scott Arves will be stepping down as president effective June 1, 2015. Keith Klein, the company’s executive VP and chief operating officer, will succeed him.

According to Transport America, Arves has been a leader in the transportation industry for over 36 years, and has served as president for the last 9 years.  During his tenure, Transport America moved from public to private, dramatically improved operating results, and was successful in a sale to TransForce Inc. last July, the company said.

"I am very proud of the team we have built here that is responsible for the tremendous improvements,” Arves said. “I am confident in Keith's ability to lead Transport America; he has been key to driving many of the results.  With the backing and strength of TransForce and with the professionalism of the Transport America team, I believe the best days are still ahead of us.  I have committed to staying on in an advisory capacity to continue to support Transport America and TransForce.”

Klein has been with Transport America since 1999 and has held several positions, most recently as chief operating officer, the company said. Previously, Klein held the roles of chief financial officer and chief information officer. In addition, the company said, Klein has been active in the Minnesota Trucking Association since 2001, serving as chairman from 2009 through 2011.

"Transport America is a wonderful company,” Klein said. “I've had the privilege to work closely with Scott for the past nine years.  We have assembled a world class leadership team and have established a culture for success.  My plan is to continue to build on these strengths and take us to the next level.”
