Transport America increases pay for owner operators

June 10, 2015
Transport America recently announced a pay increase for its owner operators. This pay change will allow all of the company’s independent contractors to make $1 per mile, the company said.“Every single person from top to bottom here at Transport America is working together to provide a great experience for our drivers,” said Mike Bash, director of recruiting operations. “We’re invested in our drivers’ careers as much as they are and they understand that we’re able to provide them with the support and opportunities needed for success. This pay increase for our owner operators is just a small piece of the large vision we have for our drivers’ futures.”The pay increase, which goes into effect July 1, eliminates the difference between HazMat and non-HazMat base pay, the company said. With the increased pay, all Transport America owner operators will earn $1 per mile. This mileage pay increase comes just after another announcement of additional pay package enhancements which went into effect May 1. These changes included improved fuel and DEF discounts with 100% pass through to the owner operator. This is decreases drivers’ cost anywhere from 10 to 60 cents per gallon, Transport America said.“In addition to the top pay at Transport America, owner operators can also expect multiple lease options, base plate bonus, $2,000 sign on bonus with own truck, no forced dispatch, $1,000 referral bonus and consistent miles as well as the respect, quality assistance with insurance, maintenance and dispatch, and great all-around driver experience the company is known for,” the company said. “Transport America currently has job openings for solo drivers, teams and owner operators for regional, dedicated and OTR routes.”
