Your Aug. 13 Pre-Trip: U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx sued

  1. According to the Wall Street Journal, a bankruptcy trustee representing the interests of a defunct buss company has sued U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, claiming he was paid $420,000 for work he never performed for the company.
  2. The Arizona Dept. of Transportation is using advanced technology to check trucks for weight, permit and registration at three rest stops in the state, says the White Mountain Independent.
  3. Hydrogen Fuel News is reporting on a Hyundai survey that found the majority of Canadians believe hydrogen fuel cells will be the future fuel source for transportation.
  4. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx was in Nebraska yesterday pushing for a six-year highway bill, saying that it will “vanquish the specter of uncertainty,” according to a story in the Lincoln Star Journal.
  5. Because of drought conditions, Panama Canal officials are planning to lower water levels, which could mean cargo coming to East Coast ports could slow, reports Barron’s.
