Tarp systems and trailer accessories manufacturer Aero Industries Inc. recently raised and donated more than $10,000 to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit group that provides scholarships and assistance to families of men and women killed or wounded on active duty in the U.S. military.

"Of the million-plus dependents adversely affected by deployments, nearly nine out of 10 do not qualify for federal assistance," Folds of Honor notes in its mission statement. Dan Rooney, a U.S. Air Force major and pro golfer, was moved to found the group in 2007 after witnessing the young son of Corporal Brock Bucklin, who was killed while serving in Iraq, walking next to his father's flag-covered casket, according to Folds of Honor.

Aero Industries, which serves the trucking industries in North and South America through locations in the United States, Canada and Chile, says it developed a relationship with Folds of Honor's Indiana chapter and is looking to build on that relationship, "both on a national and local level."

The company presented the donation of $10,600 it raised at an annual fund-raiser gala event Folds of Honor Indiana hosts. The money will provide scholarships for two local applicants, according to Aero Industries.
