Todd Volk, a deputy from the Madison County Sherriff’s office, who noticed the driver slumped over the wheel, managed to jump from his police pickup, sprint across the highway, and leap aboard the tractor steps, holding onto the truck’s mirror. Todd then opened the driver’s door and hollered at the semi-conscious driver, who blankly stared at him, according to the report. Eventually, Todd was able to safely stop the vehicle.
