NTEA – The Association for the Work Truck Industry released a newly updated edition of its Commercial Vehicle Certification Guide — now available with special pricing until Oct. 1, 2015.
Designed to assist commercial vehicle upfitters in satisfying the complex vehicle certification requirements, the guide clarifies labeling as it relates to intermediate, final-stage and altered manufacturing, NTEA said. Procedures for Tire and Loading Information and Cargo Carrying Capacity Modification labels are also covered.
The guide is a resource for labeling requirements, including instructions for label use, location and proper compliance; the Incomplete Vehicle Document; real-world, industry-specific examples; penalties; recall and remedy; early warning reporting; record retention; submission of manufacturing identification to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA); and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and compliance calculations. A full-color Federal Lighting Guide Wall Chart and important worksheets are included.
“We’re pleased to share the latest Commercial Vehicle Certification Guide with the work truck industry,” said NTEA director of technical services Bob Raybuck. “This valuable resource helps final-stage manufacturers and alterers navigate the complexities of NHTSA vehicle certification requirements.”
According to the association, the enhanced version includes:
-
Updated and significantly expanded NHTSA civil penalties for non-compliance
-
New NHTSA forms and updated Manufacturer Registration section
-
The FMVSS compliance worksheet reflecting new requirements
-
Improved organization for easier reading and searching
