AxleTech introduces air disc brake pad line

June 6, 2016
AxleTech International has released a new line of air disc brake pads for heavy-duty trucks and buses.

AxleTech International announced the introduction of its complete line of air disc brake (ADB) pads. “AxleTech offers superior performance for the most popular types of ADB models, including Knorr-Bremse, Meritor, Bendix, and Wabco, for the transit, coach, and on-highway markets,” the company said.

“AxleTech air disc brake pads are designed to provide exceptional performance and ultimately reduce total cost per mile for the vehicle owner. Our ADB pad kits will meet or exceed the performance of most OEM friction materials in many applications. Also, all of our friction formulations meet FMVSS121 requirements, as well as ECE R90 requirements,” said Mark Goedtel, product manager – brakes, AxleTech International.

The AxleTech AT215 formula is developed specifically for higher axle ratings and more aggressive duty cycles commonly seen in the transit and vocational markets. “We developed and evaluated our AT215 transit friction formula at 28,800 lb axle rating and 18.7 inch rolling radius. These parameters match the axle ratings and wheel radius of the most common transit buses with ADB,” Goedtel added.

In addition to the AT215 formula, the company’s AT214 formula has developed a long service life in on-highway, coach, and other heavy-duty applications, and provides excellent cost per mile value while offering performance properties.

Currently, the AT215 formula is approved or under evaluation at several transit authorities in North America.
