XPO employees raise scholarship money with Pat Tillman run

Nine XPO employees participated in Tempe, Arizona on April 15, some traveling from as far as Colorado and Ohio.
This week XPO was recognized as a 4 Star Employer as part of the 2023 VETS Indexes Employer Awards, recognizing the company as one of the nation’s best employers for military veterans.
Bendix earns DOE recognition for sustainable manufacturing
Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems earned an award from the U.S. Department of Energy, its Huntington, Indiana, plant earning a 2023 Better Project award from the DOE’s Better Plants program.
Part of the DOE’s Better Buildings initiative, awards in the Better Plants program honor work in energy efficiency, water efficiency, emissions reduction, and waste reduction. The DOE formally recognized Bendix and other Better Project honorees at this year’s Better Buildings, Better Plants Summit on April 12 in Washington, D.C.

“Bendix faced a complicated challenge when we expanded our Huntington operations in the summer of 2020 to include our vibration damper production,” said Maria Gutierrez, Bendix senior director of environmental, social, and governance (ESG). “First, we wanted to implement a water-based solution in our raw materials cleaning process to reduce the impact of chemicals on the environment. And second, we wanted to address the amount of water used in that process. As a result, Huntington reused 500,000 gallons of water in 2022 and cut carbon emissions associated with the old processes—and we’re proud and excited that our progress continues to earn recognition from the Department of Energy.”
This year marks the third consecutive year that the Better Plants program has honored Bendix: Bendix Huntington earned a Better Project award in 2022 for its 1.168-megawatt solar installation, and the company overall earned a 2021 Better Practice award for its Zero Waste to Landfill self-certification process.
Dana Incorporated receives MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers Excellence Award for its EZ-ID application
“Working in collaboration with our partners at TruckPro, we were able to implement a successful launch of the Dana EZ-ID application, expanding TruckPro’s ability to service complete driveshaft assemblies at all of their locations and in turn, helping to increase their sales,” said Bill Nunnery, senior director of sales and marketing, global aftermarket for Dana. “More importantly, the Dana EZ-ID tool has made it easier for TruckPro customers to find and order Spicer driveshaft assemblies for their vehicles, saving them valuable time. We want to thank MEMA for recognizing Dana with this prestigious award.”
The Dana EZ-ID application identifies driveshaft assemblies for users to order the correct parts through the Spicer ReadyShaft program, which allows next-day direct shipment of complete driveshaft assemblies.
MEMA—the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association—honored Dana and others at its Vision Conference April 12 in Rosemont, Illinois.
Women in Trucking chooses Clean Harbor's Angelika Mangino as its April member of the month
As a lead employee engagement ambassador of diversity, equity, and inclusion, Mangino celebrates drivers across the company and is an active participant in all seven employee resource groups at Clean Harbors. Additionally, she leads and manages the company’s Commercial Driver’s License Sponsorship Program and supported more than 200 employees in receiving their CDL in 2022.
“Employee engagement can only be achieved through the active participation of our employees,” said Mangino. “They are the change we want to see and without them, diversity and inclusion wouldn’t exist.”

Mangino continues to promote change across the industry for women by being an active member of the Women In Trucking Association and a company liaison.
“Continue to strive for change within our industry and aim to improve the perspectives of females behind the wheel of a truck,” said Mangino. “In this industry, we still believe it’s all about males, and that is not the case. We are making strides and seeing change, as the percentage of females in the transportation and logistics industry increases each year.”
NTTC raises highway work zone safety awareness
National Tank Truck Carriers joined the Department of Transportation and others in recognizing National Work Zone Awareness Week, an initiative to inform passenger vehicle drivers about the difficulties faced by road workers and commercial drivers, and how they can be safer on the road.
