Hyundai and Hyundai Hope on Wheels present $200,000 to Children's Hospital of Orange County

Hyundai recently announced a $200,000 commitment to its longstanding partner, Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), to support pediatric health in Southern California.

Hyundai Hope, the corporate social responsibility initiative of Hyundai Motor America, donated $100,000 to support CHOC's needs. Hyundai Hope on Wheels, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to ending childhood cancer, donated $100,000 to pediatric cancer research and support. To date, Hyundai and Hyundai Hope on Wheels have cumulatively contributed $12.9 million to CHOC, including Hyundai's original $10 million investment in 2011 with the establishment of the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC. Ceremonial checks were presented at CHOC's new nine-story outpatient tower in Orange, California.

"At Hyundai, we are proud to support impactful institutions that are working toward the betterment of children's health," Claudia Márquez, COO, Hyundai Motor America, said. "CHOC continues to be an instrumental force in the community, serving families and delivering the highest quality of health care. With the donation from Hyundai and Hyundai Hope on Wheels, we seek to continue supporting its work helping more children to live healthy, happy lives."

The event concluded with a handprint ceremony, the signature event of Hyundai Hope on Wheels. During the ceremony, children affected by cancer, doctors, researchers, partners, and Hyundai representatives placed their handprints on a Hyundai vehicle, symbolizing the collective fight against pediatric cancer and hope for a cure.

Hyundai also provided a 2025 Hyundai Palisade to CHOC that will help transport families around CHOC's Orange campus and deliver medications to immune-compromised patients.

U-Haul offers disaster relief across Dallas metro after storms, flooding

U-Haul is offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage at 75 facilities throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro area, as well as other parts of north and west Texas, after strong storms caused damage and widespread flooding.

Dallas County experienced severe flooding, and residential properties in Fannin County sustained tree and roof damage from powerful winds. Access to dry and secure self-storage units and portable storage containers is vital to communities during the clean-up process following natural disasters.

“We had crazy weather last night across Dallas metro, and our teams are willing to help anyone in need,” Matt Merrill, U-Haul Area District VP for the DFW metroplex, said. “If a month of free storage can assist with your recovery after the storms, call or stop by any U-Haul-owned center in the area.”

The 30-day free offer applies to new self-storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability. The U-Box portable container offer is for on-site storage at company centers. People seeking more information on the disaster relief program or needing to arrange services can contact their nearest regional office or stop by a U-Haul self-storage facility.

As part of the campaign, BSRO and WWP also hosted an injured veteran and their guest at the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500, where they received behind-the-scenes access to the race.

"We must never forget the cost of freedom,” Brea Kratzert Todd, WWP VP of business development, said. “Supporters like Bridgestone make it possible for the Wounded Warrior Project to provide life-changing programs and be there for warriors throughout their lifetime.”
