Tanker trucks are often easy to identify: A tractor hauling a great metal cylinder to transport liquid or gas cargo in bulk. But what else separates them from the other tractor-trailers on the road?
In this episode of the Fleet Lead, Jason McDaniel, editor of Bulk Transporter, gives a digestible rundown on tank trucks: their designs, safety regulations, cargo, and more. Jason’s explainer is based on the Fleets Explained series on FleetOwner.
Tank trucks are commonly used for transporting a variety of materials, including fuel, food, and hazardous materials. As safety and monitoring are critical on tank trailers, regulations are much stricter than normal commercial transportation. New technologies are being integrated into these tanks every year to further enhance safety.
