National Logistics Management (NLM) is honoring stellar carrier performance by presenting its third annual Carrier Excellence Awards to carriers that have provided outstanding customer service in 2006. The awards are based on criteria and performance ratings generated from NLM’s Carrier Excellence Program. NLM will present the awards at a ceremony on March 8, 2007 in Livonia, Mich.

As a non-asset based, third party logistics provider, NLM works in partnership with more than 450 ground, air freight and air charter carriers to manage shipments. The Carrier Excellence Program outlines expectations that NLM and its clients hold as the most important factors of service quality. A point system based on cost and quality is applied to each carrier and results in a “scorecard” that is shared with clients and carriers each month.

“Carriers play an integral role in NLM’s delivery of efficient, reliable, high-quality transportation management solutions,” said Greg Humes, president of National Logistics Management. “It is our privilege to acknowledge the commitment to customer service these Carrier Excellence Award winners have demonstrated throughout the year.”

NLM’s Carrier Awards are presented in six categories including: On-Time Performance, Coverage Support, Increased Participation, Best New Carrier, Dispatcher of the Year, and Overall Performance in Carrier Excellence. For each category, carriers are evaluated on service- and performance-related metrics.

The On-Time Performance Award is based on company size, mode of transportation and on-time delivery ratings. This year’s On-Time Performance Awards are being presented to, air freight carrier, AIT Worldwide; truckload carrier, SMF Incorporated; small ground expediter, Anchor Bay Express; medium ground expediter, On Time Express; and large ground expediter First Class Expediting.

The Coverage Support Awards are given to carriers that provide a solution to NLM on shipments where equipment capacity constraints exist. This year’s Coverage Support Awards will be presented to Sullivan Transportation and Panther II Transportation based on the number of viable delivery options they offered on these difficult shipments.

The Increased Participation Award is awarded to the carrier showing the greatest increase in the number of shipments handled on behalf of NLM and the number of overall bid responses to available shipments. This award is being presented to Tri State Expedited Service who in 2006, not only tripled its shipping volume with NLM but increased its Carrier Excellence score by 100 points.

The Best New Carrier of the Year Award is presented to a new carrier in the NLM Carrier Excellence program that has excelled in both on-time performance and overall scoring. The 2006 Best New Carrier award recipient is Load Express Inc.

Dispatcher of the Year Awards are presented to individual dispatchers within the NLM carrier base for the number of shipments they have booked, the on-time performance for those shipments and overall carrier excellence scores. The 2006 Dispatchers of the Year are Gary Delmotte of P & M Trucking, Brenda Hagler of Stonepath Logistics.

Winners of the Overall Performance in Carrier Excellence Award are determined by the carrier’s monthly score in the areas of on-time performance, timely and accurate updates, safety, driver communication the number of corrective actions issued. The monthly scorecards carriers received in 2006 were reviewed for the highest scores in each category. Based on these results, Overall Carrier Excellence Award winners are CTX, FF Express, TS Delivery, and Mach 1 Air Services.
